The MAC3 collection was seeded by a gift of nearly 280 works from the collection of Jarl and Pamela Mohn, largely amassed over the last 20 years, comprised of paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works by L.A. artists. In addition to the Mohns’ gift, the Hammer Museum enhanced the MAC3 collection with 80 works previously acquired by the museum through its Made in L.A. biennials since 2012, bringing the initial total number of works in the MAC3 collection to more than 340. The collection will continue to grow with annual acquisitions jointly selected by all three museums and funded through the MAC3 endowment. The MAC3 collection is available to all three museums for display, and for loans to other museums around the world.
